I've been sitting here awhile. I'm doing something.
My computer is all warmed up.
I ran into Toys R Us today with my husband and our son. The toy store has a lot of crappy crap. Toys really suck. I mean, the plastic injected molden figures of yester year now consist entirely of movie or cartoon characters and complicated weaponry or princess disney crap. I must be getting old and ornery.
wHAT is even more bizarre to note--three new aisles of digital technical stuff for kids. It's actually pretty cool. I buy this stuff for Vincent; it's interesting to see what he comes up with, but His favorite thing is still double face tape.
Next to the new aisles there's another aisle with musical instruments possibly to incorporate into these other production projects. I like that angle. Last year I bought Vincent a fender electric guitar and a huge amp. We loveto play guitar hero.
Video games that simulate an alter ego are kind of weird..
In many ways, all this technological infusion is remarkable,
but strange and perversely different than what I remember growing up. As a child my greatest fear was death, being put up for adoption, being kidnapped and finding a razorblade in my Halloween candy.
We played with trolls, caught lizards and bugs and colored in coloring books.
My greatest aspiration was to meet Ronald Reagan. I'm not sure why.
Things are a lot different now, and remarkably stranger.
